My Classroom Environment As an educator, I strongly believe it is my duty to create a classroom environment in which my students can be their best selves mentally, physically, and emotionally. To create this environment, I must cultivate healthy influential relationships with my students. I will do this by taking time to get to know their interest outside the classroom walls and ask questions about the topics or hobbies they are interested in. My goal is to create an environment in which we are a family that cares about each other. We will cheer each other on during mountain tops and walk through valleys together. I plan on using a lot of hands-on learning to grow my student's creativity and social skills with peers. I want to give my students the curriculum they need to succeed but letting them have control over their learning as well. Another objective I have for my students is to learn strong social-emotional development skills that will help them succeed later in life. This would look like reading books that touch on a variety of situations that they will run into in life. For example, we may read a book about disabilities and discuss how we treat others with disabilities. We may do research into different cultures and why they are important to who we are today. I will also focus on conflict and how to handle conflict with peers in a respectful manner. I want to teach my students skills that will not only them succeed in school, but also later in life as adults. My Inspiration for Teaching
I want to teach because I believe in building the foundation of a child’s education. Teaching social skills, and healthy emotional skills will set them up for a successful future. Children are growing up in a corrupt world that is telling them who to be, rather than letting them grow into themselves. I want to teach so I can give them a safe environment where they can freely express themselves and be met with love and compassion. Many students come from rough home lives and bring the stressors from outside the school walls into the classroom when they walk through the door. My goal is to have students feel like the time they spend with me and in my classroom is a time where they feel they can leave those worries at the door and be met with unconditional love. When a student enters my classroom, they will simply not be just an occupant of another desk, but rather their own person with thoughts, feelings, and aspirations. I also want to teach students who may not have an adult in their life that advocates for them in their education or their well-being. This means trying my best get resources that will help them learn or advocating for their mental health. |
My Goals and Methods
When I teach, I will implement a variety of teaching strategies because not every student learns the same. My goal is to include different learning techniques that reach hands-on learners, visual learners, and auditory learners. This could look like watching videos, reading text about a subject, and participating in engaging learning stations. I also want students to be able to exercise their creativity and I plan on implementing activities such as making posters, and acting skills. To teach my students the important idea that hard work brings reward, I plan on having plants that students will take care of and watch them grow. I will help my students develop strong social and emotional skills that not only help our classroom be a positive environment, but so my students know how to appropriately respond to conflicts outside the classroom. Each student walks through the classroom door with their own interests and hardships, and it is my goal to meet each student where they are at and support them to the best of my abilities.
