Module 1: Social Emotional Learning 101
Explains what social and emotional learning is
Explains benefits of social and emotional learning such as improvements in academic performance and positive attitudes about themselves
Social and emotional learning helps students build stronger relationships
Module 2:
Get familiar with Reflect for Microsoft
Explains what Reflect is and how it can improve your students SEL
Reflect helps build students self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship skills
Reflect also teaches students how to express themselves in a safe way that also informs the teacher about their feelings
Module 3: It Starts With You
Students often observe teachers and learn from them how to respond to situation
In order for a teacher to be able to accurately teach SEL, they need to be aware of their own SEL strengths and weaknesses
Gives examples of how teachers can model self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship skills for their students
Module 4: Create a Social Emotional Learning Kickoff Lesson for Your Class
Understand that self-reflection is the core of SEL
Have students do activities with different vocabulary words that have to deal with emotions
Teachers need to remember it is important to exercise their SEL
Addressing Social Issues in the Classroom with WE Teachers
Module 1: What is WE Teachers?
WE is a free program available to teacher that educates them on how to address social issues in their classroom
Examples of some social issues teachers are taught to accurately address are gun violence, bullying, and even mental health
Helps teachers under how to engage students in conversations about social issues as they arise
Module 2: How is WE Teachers Different from Other Programs?
This program offers teachers curriculum, online resources, and educational resources
The educational resources will educate teachers on mental well-being, bullying, diversity and instruction, poverty, and so much more
The online resources allows teachers to collaborate with other teachers and discuss social issues in the classroom
Module 3: WE Teacher Award
The WE Teachers Award is a program to give teachers money to spend on their classroom
Walgreens is partnered with WE Teachers in providing resources for teachers to use in their classrooms
WE is also partnered with Mental Health America to help educate teachers on the importance of mental health
