In Children's Literature, we often discussed the important of having books in the classroom with a variety of topic and genres. Books are not only a great way to educate children but also to build community and a sense of identity within students. For example, within my digital library, I have "Henry's Freedom Box", as multicultural literature. Or "Before She Was Harriet" would be an example of nonfiction within my library and an important historical figure. Also attached to the books in my library is a link to a read aloud. Teachers can use a read aloud as a way to keep students engaged while they may be setting up literacy stations. They can also be used for parents who may not be able to read in English, can still be a part of what they are doing in class and learning.
