For a class about teaching math to students and creating a learning environment for students where they feel supported, we were assigned to write a story that implemented math problems. In "Cookies for Catherine", the main character Catherine and her friends are in charge of baking cookies to be sold for a school fundraiser. They are faced with the dilemma of deciding how many plastic bags they need in order to put two cookies in each bag. The grade level targeted for this story is third grade and focuses on strengthening students' division skills.
