A PLN (Personal Learning Network) is when you connect with others in order to grow in your knowledge of a subject. Often this can be with people who are close to where you live or people you connect with through an online or social media platform. A benefit to a Personal Learning Network is you can shape it to your needs and use it to your convenience! You can choose who to connect with and at what time. You can build your PLN by creating groups with people online, asking questions on social media apps such as Twitter and Instagram, and attending webinars! Having and using a PLN is a great way for teachers to grow as educators. They can follow groups, get the support they need, and grow in a desired subject. As a Pre-service teacher, I am already seeing the benefits of having my own PLN! I have created a Twitter and Instagram account to connect with other educators. On both Instagram and Twitter, I follow other educators that I know will help me grow as a pre-service teacher. These teachers will post about what fun activities they have done in the classroom, wins and losses they have had with students, ways they manage their classroom, and so much more! By using these platforms to create a PLN, I have already gotten ideas on activities I may want to implement into my instruction and strategies I am going to try to use in order to create a safe learning environment.
